Auto-close option
Before this update, every hall pass would expire automatically based on their duration. Now, you can choose to leave hall passes open until they are closed by either a student or staff member.
Keeping passes open can be enabled on appropriate hall pass types by setting the Auto-close option to 'No'.
You'll notice these passes can stay open, even after their duration expires. Expired passes will be listed at the top of the active hall pass list, for ease of viewing.
On the student app, an expired hall pass will display a timer that counts up from the time of expiration.
If the hall pass is never closed, it will eventually end at midnight of the next day.
Self-assign hall passes
Allow students to assign their own hall pass, no scanning required!
First, enable the self-assignment option for the appropriate hall pass types
Next, enable the Add hall pass option in your student app settings
In the app, students will see the Add Pass button, along with a list of eligible hall pass types to choose from. Once they open a hall pass, it can be closed by simply tapping the Close Pass button.
Exemptions
For students that shouldn't be affected by hall pass limits, add them to the Hall Pass Exemptions list.
An exempt student will be able to receive hall passes without being impacted by daily or active limits.
If needed, set the Ignore exemptions option on specific hall pass types to apply limits to everyone.
Restricted Groups
You can maintain groups of students that are not allowed to receive hall passes at the same time. Managers can configure certain hall pass types to ignore these group restrictions, if needed.
Additional student app options
In addition to the Add hall pass option, you can enable/disable hall pass scanning (i.e. QR codes) and enable/disable the duration timer, shown on the app when a hall pass is open.
