Student Roster Sync
Clever integration provides access to retrieve basic information about students and populate the student roster in 5-Star Students.
Required fields include student ID, name, and grade level. Additional attributes may also be retrieved such as email, gender and DOB.
Data processing runs nightly M-F, where new students are added and existing students updated if changes are needed.
Students no longer detected will be moved to the Inactive roster. If the student re-appears during a subsequent sync, they will be moved back to the active roster.
* We do not support Clever SSO at this time
While students are always included in the nightly sync, there are additional options available.
Staff Roster Sync
If requested, we can retrieve Teachers and other School Admins (if available) during processing. This does not provide any access for staff members, however rostering provides opportunities to award staff points.
The staff roster can also be used to link user accounts to class schedules using teacher information.
Classes Sync
If requested, we can retrieve class enrollment data during processing. This includes general information about the class (i.e. name, subject, etc), the teacher and enrolled students.
Visibility of classes can be helpful for users (i.e. teachers) when awarding points in a classroom setting.
The default setting is to retrieve classes for the current term only (i.e. semester, quarter), but this is configurable.
We also offer several options for class category and class naming.
The screenshot below displays the Class Category as "option B" (Period with Label) and the Class name as "option A" (Teacher - Last Name).
Category:
A) Period: "1"
B) Period with Label: "Period 1"
C) Grade: "12"
D) Grade with Label: "Grade 12"
E) Subject: "Math"
F) None
Class name:
A) Teacher - Last Name: "Jones"
B) Teacher - First Initial: "Jones, F."
C) Teacher - Full Name: "Jones, Frank"
D) Teacher - Course: "Jones - AP Art History"
E) Teacher - Period: "Jones - 1"
F) Period - Teacher: "1 - Jones"
